Parks & Recreation in Alger Heights

There are multiple parks and places for recreation in the Alger Heights neighborhood! You do not have to go far to explore, but at the same time, you are not too far out from the city of Grand Rapids. From baseball fields to larger parks with nature trails, there will always be something to do outside no matter your age.

Paris Park

Cheseboro Park is located at 950 Merriitt St SE, on the northwest corner of Blaine Ave SE and Merritt St SE. The park contains children’s playground equipment.

McKay-Jaycees Park

McKay-Jaycees Park

MacKay-Jaycee Park is located at 2531 Kalamazoo Ave SE, between Alger St SE and 28th St SE. In addition to children’s playground equipment, the park includes walking paths, basketball and tennis courts, plus soccer and softball fields.

Paris Park is located at 942 N Ottillia St SE, on the northwest corner of W Blaine Ave SE and N Ottillia St SE; it consists primarily of open green space and is ideal for picnics or a frisbee toss.

Seymour Park

Plaster Creek

Plaster Creek is approximately 14 miles long and runs from the Village of Caledonia all the way up through Grand Rapids’ northern suburbs, including Alger Heights. It eventually empties into the Grand River just one mile south of the city center. The Plaster Creek Trail runs south of Alger Heights and is a tree-lined, shade-covered path perfect for walking hikes or biking.
